It had always been our dream to run a festival. It was on our bucket list! So after a few years of running events including weddings, charity events and our own large garden parties, we decided that we had had enough practice and we should launch into running our own proper festival. And Chickenstock 2018 was that festival! So with plenty of help from our friends and family, our dream became reality With nearly 300 people in our back garden!
We had such a great time, as did everyone who came... we decided to do it again in 2019. It was clear that our garden - a good size though it is, would not accomodate a larger stage and facilities. Our neighbour kindly offered us one of his paddocks, so in 2019 we moved the Festival to Pett Farm. The larger space meant we could have more people attending a a number of food and other concessions, and most importantly more music! Again the Festival was great, and even on the larger plot, still had the small friendly atmosphere we hoped for. The Jamming sessions in the bar were excellent fun too! So we knew 2020 must be planned! Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020 we had to postpone the Festival until 2021.
So, what will Chickenstock 21 look like? Much the same as Chickenstock 2019, with fantastic music, food and bar (The Cock), with the family feel you can only get when family and friends run an event. This year, we have pushed the boat out and have booked some well known bands as our Headliners of '3 Daft Monkeys', 'Show of Hands' and 'Hayseed Dixie' with other great artists supporting including 'Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman' and Richard Digance, to name just a couple.
We love attending festivals ourselves of all sizes. We love all genres of music but have a particular passion for Folk Rock, Folk, Roots and Acoustic music, which is the main genre of the acts booked, but Folk as you may not expect! ‘You tube’ Links to the bands on the line-up (where available) will give you a good idea of the party atmosphere we hope to achieve.
We hope that you will enjoy the friendly atmosphere of one of Kent’s newest festivals, being suitable for all ages, and that it will become a regular on your festival calendar year after year. The number of tickets available are strictly limited – so get yours early to avoid disappointment!
We also aim to make the festival site as accessible as possible to everyone. Having a son in a wheelchair we understand how limiting festivals can be, and if he is anything to go by, being abled bodied is not a requirement for a love of music. If you have any specific requirements, let us know of these in advance, and we will do what we can to the best of our ability for you, to make your festival experience as care free, easy and enjoyable as possible.
We look forward to seeing you at Chickenstock 2021!
